So the old tactic of pushing A, A, A, then forward + block to vault over them, and then A, A, A again until they die doesn't work so well as it used to because they actually turn around and try to hit you now. For example, they can actually turn around if they are in the middle of an attack when you jump over and behind them. The AI has been tweaked a little bit, now instead of being utterly retarded, they are now merely stupid. Otherwise it's exactly the same unless you beat it once, which unlocks the new Jade Master difficulty.

None of the new styles add much to the game, although apparently Rhino is so overpowered you can kill everything in like 2 hits. There are two new styles, Iron Palm and Viper, and people who preordered from Gamestop got the Rhino Transformation Style. The game itself is just about identical to the Xbox version. View image here: - I hear it works perfectly on Nvidia cards. Great job with the ATI support on your port, guys. If I leave Soft Shadows off, shadows magically work again. This brings back fond memories of Soft Shadows not working on ATI cards when KOTOR was first released, it was later patched in. Also Soft Shadows are completely busted on ATI cards, if I turn Soft Shadows on all shadows disappear completely. There are some graphics anomalies on ATI cards if AA is on. It's disabled by default because LTI Gray Matter, the guys who ported it, couldn't be arsed to make AA work correctly on ATI cards. However it has a number of issues with ATI cards, in fact you have to force AA by editing JadeEmpire.ini to set AllowATIFSAA=1. I'm running it in 1920x1200 (widescreen support, YES!) with 6xAA and 16x Anisotropic and the framerate is never lower than 60fps, which is what my refresh rate is set to. The optimization of the port is quite good. In particular any signs and world objects with words on them are upscaled and look starkly out of place compared with the mostly lowres textures that cover the rest of the world.

Some textures have been resampled at higher resolution. The game now requires SM2.0 support, though I saw no graphics quality improvement in shaders. The graphics are considerably better than the Xbox version, even running through 360 BC, because you can run at the highest native resolution your display supports. Bioware had seriously better put an actual ending in Mass Effect, otherwise I'll be quite pissed after the total abortions Bioware calls endings in KOTOR and JE.

I've been through the Xbox version several times following both Light and Dark paths, and make no mistake, that's what they are, the game might as well be called Star Wars: Jade Empire because the branching quest mechanic is identical. I can say a few things about it for people who are playing it for the first time. Well, I've gone through the PC version up to Tien's Landing.
